The GOP Has Lost Its Ever-Loving Mind

With Sarah Palin and Saxby Chambliss engaging in a Georgia sideshow, the GOP has been trying desperately to salvage a presidential legacy that is unsalvageable. But the most President Bush can do is apologize to the American people and go back to the ranch.
The National Bureau of Economic Research released a well-publicized report today which revealed that we have been in a recession since 2007. There goes making the claim in 2012 that it began during the Obama administration.
Some untold trillions of dollars and eight years hence, only now will the President admit that he was “unprepared for war.”
Next, the GOP just can’t seem to let the hate-mongering go–it’s worked so well over the last thirty-some years! Jeb Bush asserts that the GOP can’t be the “old white-guy party” and recommended that the GOP work on some sort of a “shadow government” to pursue its own agenda. I think his notion of a shadow government is different from what some other folks consider to be a “shadow government.” Jeb talks of a need to “diversify” the Republican party–Bobby Jindal?–even though they’ve got the son of a former Klan member trying to run on the Republican ticket in West Palm Beach, web traffic to sites maintained by hate groups has been through the roof since the presidential election, and the right has continued to blame the credit crisis on minorities who took out loans they couldn’t afford, even though it was the banks that lobbied the President to prevent a government crackdown on subprime lending.
Perhaps it is possible to achieve a “GOP Intellectual Center.” But who knows if they will be able to wrest control away from the barbarians.
